The past few weeks have been so hot here in Austin (actually the past 3 months!), so we have spent a lot of time indoors. Every now and then I will pull it together by 8am and get us out for a wagon ride and visit with the neighbors. Harrison wakes up at 7:15 most mornings and we watch a cartoon or two while I gulp my coffee down. His favorites are Handy Manny, the Mickey Mouse Playhouse and Agent Oso. He has an amazing attention span and really gets engaged with whats going on! He is still saying and understanding new words everyday. He nods and shakes his head "yes" and "no" in response to questions. He is learning more baby signs and making up some of his own. He still isn't walking full time. His comfort zone is his "gorilla crawl". For those of you who haven't seen it. Its a crawl/slide across the floor. Since we have the wood floors, its easier on his knees. Very cute.
His Aunt Hayley, Uncle Logan, and cousin Blaine came to visit last weekend. We went to Bama's to swim and Blaine even took a dip! It will be no time before they can really interact and have fun together. Also, his Granna came to visit this past weekend. They spent all day Saturday and part of Sunday playing. Harrison now calls her Nana.
We went to the Children's Museum last Monday with Parker and Amy (it was Parker's 2nd bday). There is an area just for toddlers. Harrison crawled around and toddled with the other kids and never looked around for his mama! He even sat through 3 stories at storytime. Although he was preoccupied with trying to pull Parker's pink crocs off her feet. I promised him I would buy him his own pink crocs.
I enrolled him in a class at JW Tumbles and his first class was this morning. The class is called Wobblers because its for 11 - 18 month olds who are just learning to walk. He had so much fun. He loves being around other kids. They swing, push toys, kick balls, walk on balance beams (ha not so much Harrison though!), tumble, sing, and mostly just play. He was the only one still doing a lot of crawling which freaked me out a little at first. But I always remind myself that kiddos develop at different rates. He has been so far ahead on the communication side and a lot of times that means walking comes later. Then once the walking starts, the talking tapers off a little. But I thought this would be a great class to encourage him to walk and just give him time with other kids. We go every Monday. I will make sure to take pictures next week. I wanted to check out the scene before I went crazy with my picture taking!
He is such a boy. There is just no way that little girls do the kinds of things he does. He puts his arms in the air and Adam will say "Super Harrison!" and he will leap through the air like Superman. When we tell him "You're so strong!" he puts his arms in the air and flexes his muscles and clenches his fist like he is the hulk! He likes to do the "teepee" thing where he is on all fours and looks through his legs. Adam rolls him over to make him do a somersault and he loves that.
We have his 15 month dr's appt on Thursday. I will update again then! Hopefully they can weigh him this time. He hates the scale so much, they haven't been able to get his weight since he was 9 months old!!!!
