Party Animal

Harrison has been having a blast the past few days! On Friday night, we needed to get out of the house so we went to the Oasis. They had some great live music upstairs so we sat up there and had dinner. The sunset was gorgeous and Harrison loved jamming to the music while he ate! He also was a big fan of leaning over the deck and looking at all the boats! I think we will probably make this a regular thing because it was too much fun. There were lots of kids on the dance floor. It will be no time before he is dancing along with them!

On Saturday we went to Parker's 2nd birthday party. They had a pool, bouncy house, sandbox, and a ton of toys. Even though it was naptime and he was sleepy he played til he couldn't play anymore. Happy Birthday Parker!

We got out his bubble mower and he pushed it around the yard. I can't WAIT til the weather gets nice again! I am ready to spend all day long outside. We have been hiding from the heat for so long! You just can't put a baby out in this kind of heat unless you have good shade and we do not!

Last night we went to Main Event and let him bowl. He beat me - I am very embarassed to say. But TECHNICALLY he was cheating a little. Haha! I think Adam and I have been doing the Wii video game bowling so much, its made our real game suffer!

We had another successful class at JW Tumbles this morning. They had a baby roller coaster that he got to zoom around on. Still no tumbling yet. Guess that will come later!

The biggest news is that we closed on our house today! 5 months of patiently waiting and the house finally sold. We have beautiful memories of bringing our baby home to this house but we have years and years of new memories to make in our house now. Bittersweet!

I threw in an extra pic here from the museum last week.

15 months already!

15 months already...he will in kindergarten before I know it! And I will be weeping outside of his classroom door!

He had a great checkup this morning. Adam went with me this time. The past few times without him have been rough. Harrison has had fairly mild stranger anxiety but when they strip him down and put him on the scale and touch him with strange cold objects, he is not ok with it! They were actually able to get an accurate weight this time even though he wimpered through it. He is 21 lbs, 6.5 oz. His height is 31.75 inches. He is in the 10th percentile in weight and between the 50th and 75th in height. So he is tall and skinny! This is great seeing as Adam has big dreams for him to be a kicker in the NFL! Right before becoming a doctor of course. Hee hee! No pressure kid! Developmentally he is doing great, no signs of illness, good ears...so we are very thankful!

We met Kim and Gary (aka MeeMee and Pop Pop) at Dave and Busters for dinner last night. Other than Adam being served raw Fish and Chips (gag!), it was a fun night! Harrison totally loved it - how could he not?? We let him play a bunch of games and he acted like he already knew how to play them. A lot of these games just involve smacking a button so a one year old can actually play. Although he hit the button at all the right times and he ended up with a ton of tickets! Adam also won him a big ball in the giant claw machine so he was thrilled about that.

It was POURING rain when we walked out and I was thrilled because we need it soooooo badly. Of course when we got home we realized that not a drop had fallen at our house. Every storm passes us over. So sad! We are cursed.

Well I am off to do my wii fit! That's what I do during his naptime now instead of clean. So much fun! A much better option!

Tumbling Toddler

The past few weeks have been so hot here in Austin (actually the past 3 months!), so we have spent a lot of time indoors. Every now and then I will pull it together by 8am and get us out for a wagon ride and visit with the neighbors. Harrison wakes up at 7:15 most mornings and we watch a cartoon or two while I gulp my coffee down. His favorites are Handy Manny, the Mickey Mouse Playhouse and Agent Oso. He has an amazing attention span and really gets engaged with whats going on! He is still saying and understanding new words everyday. He nods and shakes his head "yes" and "no" in response to questions. He is learning more baby signs and making up some of his own. He still isn't walking full time. His comfort zone is his "gorilla crawl". For those of you who haven't seen it. Its a crawl/slide across the floor. Since we have the wood floors, its easier on his knees. Very cute.

His Aunt Hayley, Uncle Logan, and cousin Blaine came to visit last weekend. We went to Bama's to swim and Blaine even took a dip! It will be no time before they can really interact and have fun together. Also, his Granna came to visit this past weekend. They spent all day Saturday and part of Sunday playing. Harrison now calls her Nana.

We went to the Children's Museum last Monday with Parker and Amy (it was Parker's 2nd bday). There is an area just for toddlers. Harrison crawled around and toddled with the other kids and never looked around for his mama! He even sat through 3 stories at storytime. Although he was preoccupied with trying to pull Parker's pink crocs off her feet. I promised him I would buy him his own pink crocs.

I enrolled him in a class at JW Tumbles and his first class was this morning. The class is called Wobblers because its for 11 - 18 month olds who are just learning to walk. He had so much fun. He loves being around other kids. They swing, push toys, kick balls, walk on balance beams (ha not so much Harrison though!), tumble, sing, and mostly just play. He was the only one still doing a lot of crawling which freaked me out a little at first. But I always remind myself that kiddos develop at different rates. He has been so far ahead on the communication side and a lot of times that means walking comes later. Then once the walking starts, the talking tapers off a little. But I thought this would be a great class to encourage him to walk and just give him time with other kids. We go every Monday. I will make sure to take pictures next week. I wanted to check out the scene before I went crazy with my picture taking!

He is such a boy. There is just no way that little girls do the kinds of things he does. He puts his arms in the air and Adam will say "Super Harrison!" and he will leap through the air like Superman. When we tell him "You're so strong!" he puts his arms in the air and flexes his muscles and clenches his fist like he is the hulk! He likes to do the "teepee" thing where he is on all fours and looks through his legs. Adam rolls him over to make him do a somersault and he loves that.

We have his 15 month dr's appt on Thursday. I will update again then! Hopefully they can weigh him this time. He hates the scale so much, they haven't been able to get his weight since he was 9 months old!!!!

Bday Getaway

I decided that for my 30th birthday, I wanted to get away to one of my favorite places - Dallas! I have been dying to take Harrison to the Dallas World Aquarium and he absolutely loved it. He saw monkeys, toucans, turtles, birds, flamingos, manatees, sharks, sloths, and penguins! He usually takes a mid morning nap and was having so much fun that he didn't pass out until almost 5! We ate at some nice restaurants and Harrison was a perfect little angel. He got to hang out at the pool a couple of mornings and totally fit in with the Dallas Uptown crowd. He lounged in the chair, sipped on his sippy cup, and bobbed his head to the music. We shared a giant king size bed and he laid in the middle at night and would roll back and forth cuddling me, then Adam. It will be hard to get him back into his routine! He was walking like crazy in the hotel room. Now I have to race to finish babyproofing our house! I couldn't have asked for a better birthday!
